 Adult Single Ministries A Ministry of The Church!

The North American Division is assuming Adventist Single Adult Ministries as a ministry of the Church. It has previously been known as Adventist Singles Ministries and was independently operated. On October 31, 2003, the newly formed North American Division Single Adult Ministries Advisory Committee met in Silver Springs, Maryland for it's first historical meeting. Debra Brill, NAD Vice President of Ministries is chairperson, and called the meeting to order, while Willie Oliver, NAD Family Life Director, presented the agenda for the meeting. The following actions were voted:
1. VOTED the Committee terms of reference that set guidelines for member composition and outlines it's relationship to the Family Life Department of the NAD.
2. VOTED to appoint Ken Bryant, Family Life Director of the Florida Conference, to serve as Vice Chair of the Committee.
3. VOTED to revise the NAD Working Policy Manual to say 'Single Adult Ministries' instead of 'Singles Ministries.'
4. VOTED a new logo for the ministry.
5. VOTED to establish a dedicated web site for the ministry which will be up and running within three months.
6. VOTED to set up a database of interested Adventist Single Adult Ministries leaders throughout the NAD and to develop a ListServe for communication purposes.
7. VOTED to hold one annual NAD Adventist Single Adult Ministries Convention/Conference at the time of the National SAM Convention. This year the SAM Convention will be held in Phoenix Arizona March 22-25 with the NAD ASAM Convention following on March 26-27, 2004.
8. VOTED to commission an article for Church publications to communicate what is happening with Single Adult Ministries in the North American Division.
9. VOTED to continue work on an updated mission statement for the ministry.
This is report may not be inclusive of all the actions taken by the Advisory Committee but, it gives the highlights. Watch for more information in February-March of 2004.
